Frank Shines — Dramaturg & Founder
Frank Shines is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy (Class of 1987), a former U.S. Air Force officer, and retired IBM Principal. He is also a direct descendant of Kelley Dolphus Stroud — the man at the center of RACE the Opera.
After years of meticulous research — combining DNA analysis, Congressional records, Olympic archives, and family publications — Frank assembled the documentary backbone of the opera and founded the Stroud Leadership Academy to carry the story forward.
A published author and speaker, Frank has been recognized by Forbes Magazine and featured across media for his work at the intersection of technology, leadership, and American history.

The Dolphus Stroud Story

Frank Shines presents the documented story of Kelley Dolphus Stroud — the Colorado Springs scholar-athlete who was denied funding to travel to the 1928 Olympic trials, and chose to walk the entire 2,000-mile journey instead.
